This Months Horse Tip

To keep your saddles from slipping off of a metal saddle stand, simply wrap the saddle stand with Vetrap. Your saddle will stay put! This works well in trailer saddle stands also!

Featured Breed-The Quarter Horse
The Quarter Horse originated in the United States. Named after the quarter-of-a-mile races this breed ran. The first quarter mile race for Quarter Horses took place in 1674 in Enrico County Virginia. The typical size of the Quarter Horse is between 14 and 16 hands high, and they are most noted for their powerful hindquarters. The Quarter Horse has the largest registry of any breed in the world with entries over 4 million worldwide. This breed is extremely sought after because of it’s intelligence, versatility with any discipline, “cow sense”, and exceptional calm and willing temperaments. The Quarter Horse is a suitable mount for young or old. Quarter Horses may be any solid color: Buckskin, Palomino, Blue Roan, Red Roan, Gray, Bay, Chestnut, Grullo, Brown, Black, Dun, Red Dun and Sorrel. There should be no white markings above the knee except on the face. Some famous Quarter Horses are: Wimpy, the first Quarter Horse registered with the AQHA; King, he sired 520 registered Quarter Horse foals; Rugged Lark, named Superhorse at the AQHA World Championship show in 1985 and again in 1987; Plain Justin Bar, first horse to receive the AQHA’s Silver Spur Award; and Docs Keepin Time, the star of the movie Black Beauty. The Quarter Horse is surely one of America’s best treasures!
